A few years ago I had this crazy idea to add ’social’ sites to your members profile at I Love Hits but also to allow members to showcase their Twitter, Facebook and websites to other members. Basically I wanted to re-create the magic of Web 2.0 at I Love Hits, now while it was a good idea on paper I didn’t have the know how to get it done exactly how I visioned…
You can now add your own web sites and show case them to other surfers. You can once again add Twitter and Facebook as well as your Affiliate Funnel YMP pages. You can post comments on other members Profiles, pot your own thoughts and now, add ‘Friends’.
Best of all, these new Profile Pages are completely integrated with your in-surf chat system so if you are chatting with your fellow surfers, you can direct message them in real time, add them as a friend and share links. But most important, you are growing your network…
Special note, we now use Gravatar for your Profile Pages and this is to upload your picture to use with your Profile. Please note, all you need to do is use the same email address you have on file when you sign up for Gravatar and presto, you are all set. It’s very simple and easy to do, and it allows you to use the same Avatar across the internet instead of uploading a new pic every time. Very easy to use…

K, so I’m doing something silly this weekend. Something different. Something even fun maybe, but it’s kind of an experiment and I want to see who will ‘take part’. As you can see in the video, I have a small collection of coffee mugs that various traffic exchanges have sent me, or I have purchased at one time or another.

New programs come online every day but when it all comes down to it, the people behind the program will be a huge factor whether or not it’s a success. Take for example Get Referrals Fast and the people behind this amazing new ‘training system’.

I am about to admit something I never thought I would…Traffic exchanges aren’t all they are cracked up to be. And it’s not that they don’t work, in fact for list building and personal branding you would be hard pressed to find any more effective form of advertising.
But the time has come for me to sit back and really take a good look at this industry.
Sure, traffic exchanges have become even more active then ever before. Yes we have THOUSANDS of new surfers joining the programs ever week. But what is gone, in my opinion, is the ‘community’ that once was. It was a vibrant community with things to write about, debate about and surf about every single day.
Trust me, I know. I write Hit Exchange News every week since 2003 and a few years ago I had to decide what to write about because there was new exchanges popping up, brand new features being released and creativity around ever corner of the industry.
Nowadays it’s silly surf promos and useless jargon about Member Billybob winning 250 credits for surfing the day before. And the worst part about that, it’s not just one traffic exchange boring me to death with this, it’s the majority of them. We have nothing to write about it seems, we just exist and keep the credits flowing. No creativity at all, and when something new comes up, it’s rarely supported by the entire industry.
I dunno, maybe that’s all we are supposed to be but I have seen the glory of past. I remember sitting in front of hundreds of internet marketers at offline events and having a TEAM of owners right beside me as we praised the industry. Those days are long gone, it’s dog eat dog today. Heck even people I have worked with for years, I rarely talk to anymore.
Maybe it’s me. Heck it’s more than likely me. LOL Maybe I smell, I dunno. I think it’s the simple fact that some folks want more from the internet marketing life, and all I want is traffic exchanges. That’s all I have ever wanted but *gulp* it’s not very sexy.
What’s the point of this post? Just venting some frustrations. Kind of thinking of days gone by when we all used to get pumped up to surf a few sites and chuckle about the silly ‘opportunities’ we see in rotation. I miss it…
So off I go, to surf a few sites. I am a traffic exchange surfer first, traffic exchange enthusiast forever and while that may not be enough for some folks, I still wake up everyday and thank God I found these crazy programs over a decade ago…

It’s no secret. For years I’ve been writing article after article about the power of using traffic exchanges properly. I have debated with loads of internet marketers about the effectiveness of traffic exchanges and how to properly use them for any affiliate promotion they could ever come up with and today is no different…
I wanted to show you an example of how powerful the ‘branding and building’ strategy can be, but instead of boring you to death with ‘I Told You So’s’ and the like, I thought it would be cool to show a real life example.
When we first started Traffic Exchange Live we had no idea it would become what it has today. But something that really struck me when we started is how loyal the viewers have been. Even if Tim, John and myself are sitting behind the camera not saying a word (we get bored sometimes) these great people STILL support us. But what’s even better is that even without us chit chatting, they are ALWAYS in the live chat, networking and meeting other viewers.
Lynn McCutcheon is a perfect example of who I think has taken the brand and build concept and really ‘crushed it’. Lynn started hanging out at T.E. Live from the start and began to chronicle every episode. She ALWAYS used her real name. She always was talking and taking part in the discussions. She constantly was seen as a leader to many other viewers.
Since then she has gone on to create of the most read blogs in the traffic exchange industry, she manages a quality traffic exchange and is building her contact list daily.
How did she do it? How much did it cost her? Why is she getting her name out there instead of others?
First of all, she did what her competition didn’t. She networked, she got seen, she took part in discussions, she actually ‘worked’. As for costs? It didn’t take a penny to do any of those things, it took elbow grease. Sure she invests now in her businesses but the core principles of ‘branding’ and getting your name seen doesn’t require much money.
This is just one example of someone who takes the message of branding and building and runs with it. The message here is do what others won’t do. Be seen. Be visible, network, meet your fellow surfers and your brand will grow.
No ‘big red easy button’ here folks, just good old fashioned hard work and sticking to your guns. It works, give it a shot =)
It’s Easter weekend so first of all, Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates the holiday. I’ve been having a great first weekend back to work after the latest trip I took and I’ve got to say, coming back to the industry when things are going so well is such a blessing and I’m so honored and thankful for every single member of I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic.
Speaking of SWAT Traffic, I’ve lost my marbles once again. A few weeks ago we did this ‘firesale’ for lifetime Heavy Weight membership upgrades at I Love Hits.
