There Is A Lot Of Garbage Out There…Beware!
Wow, it’s been quite an interesting hour this morning. I got up bright and early and decided to surf some traffic exchanges for a few hours and to be honest, what I saw while surfing was…
Very scary!
I was in Net Marketing Forum the other day and one of the more active members of the forum made a comment and it really stuck with me…
He mentioned that you show people how to really make money online, practice list building and provide real content…Most people shy away from it.
But give them a big red shiny easy button (promises of over night wealth, etc) and they are on it like pigs to mud.
It’s nothing new. Since these things started (traffic exchanges) there has been a revolving door of ‘promises’ and folks, the fact is, 99% of those ‘promises’ aren’t around anymore. Do you know what is though?
The program that tell you how to list build. The list builders themselves. The marketers with lists. The marketers with personal brands. The people that didn’t believe the ‘promise’ of that big red easy button but chose to work their tail off instead.
Don’t fall for it folks. Don’t fall for the claims of wealth, the ‘it’s so easy anyone can do it’ businesses. The ‘X Amount’ of money guaranteed to you every week. The ‘we will build your downline for you’ programs…They WILL be gone in a few months. They always are.
Want to start a real business? It’s going to take time. It’s going to take effort. It’s going to be a trying period. But it will be worth it. If you are ready to roll up your sleeves, you are in the perfect place to promote your business. If not, I ‘promise’ you that you will continue to spin your wheels until you do roll up some sleeves…
If it sounds too good to be true…IT IS!

Hi Jon, so true. You wouldn’t expect to build an offline business into a million dollar entity in a week so why should it be any different online. The advantage to being online is that you have a vast audience to market to. Get it right and work hard and the long term prospects for your online business is huge. Sky’s the limit really
Cheers

Great post Jon.
I sometimes feel like shaking these people for wasting their time and money promoting this junk. Unfortunately I think everybody need to go through the process of trying and failing. If they manage to stick with it long enough they’ll eventually figure out it. List building might not be as sexy as a big easy button but at least it works.

This is so ironic that you wrote about this today, Jon (and even funnier what Jerry said). Winter and I were just talking this afternoon about how we sometimes felt the urge to try to shake some sense into folks too – as well as knowing there were folks that used to want to shake some sense into us too, like Jerry, who probably wanted to smack me in the head earlier last year when we had some conversations months before the light bulb went off and I finally “got it”.
The “big red easy button” I kept thinking I found didn’t work for me the whole 2+ years I kept thinking I found it. Now, I may be exhausted all the time and feel like I’ve been working non-stop for almost five months straight (and pretty much have been doing just that), building my list and working my booty off with related stuff – but for the first time in what’s now going on almost three years, I am finally seeing REAL RESULTS.
I’ve still got a long way to go, it’s hard work and I’m still in the rough & trying period, and I still make mistakes – but things are so much better than they ever were with all that “easy”, “quick”, and “guaranteed” so-called stuff. Ironic how I had to stop chasing money online so hard before I actually started really making ANY.
And it’s much better to be able to actually see things happening and see some light at the end of the proverbial tunnel instead of spinning my wheels all the time and going absolutely nowhere. Especially considering that almost five months ago in October, I was just about ready to give up.
This now? It’s still hard work and I stay exhausted as all get out and I spend 90% or more of my awake time on it all… but now I see good results from it all the time, constantly. That totally rocks.

Nailed it, Jon!
I wish all the info available today about list building was available when I first started out. It would have saved me lots of time and mistakes.
Sadly, people still fall for the get rich quick garbage out there that teaches them nothing but how to lose their money.
I don’t think I can stress enough how vital list building is for long term success..
Its actually at the core of my new project to help others do the same.
It really does make all the difference and yep, does take a bit of effort. As far as IM goes, I think the hungry will always eat well

Thanks for the comments folks. It’s a challenge, but I think the message does get heard. Just wish more people wouldn’t jump when they see certain fads and schemes pop up.
