Since these programs started, traffic exchanges have always had a very comfortable footing in the ‘make money at home’ niche. We are a perfect launch pad for aspiring marketers, looking to advertise their business and opportunity or other home based business people.
In fact, I kind of chuckle when people say traffic exchange traffic isn’t targeted. In fact, I would argue that if you are looking for home based businesses, get money online, work from home opportunities, the traffic exchanges are about as targeted as you can get.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise certain programs do very well in this environment while others really fail. Here’s an example, GDI has been absolutely HUGE in the traffic exchanges. This opportunity has been seen by each and every surfer more than once and has for years. Is it the program itself? The way it caters to the newer marketer? Their marketing material? Whatever the reason, traffic exchange surfers have all seen their advertisements and even a big chunk of us have joined GDI at one time or another.
Another popular program are the ’system’ programs like TE Profits and the new ‘Ocean Swell’ system. Why do these do well in the traffic exchanges? Simplicity! These programs are lazer focused with one thing in mind, generating quick commissions for their members. They work because there is no fluff, they get straight to the point, are easy to set up and more importantly very easy to promote.
What are the other reasons? Why do these type of programs get promoted everywhere you click while some others barely generate any noise at all. What do you think? DO you have any reasons for this? Do you have some stories about any of the programs I mentioned?

Along comes Bracket Surfing and essentially it’s become a head to head clash of some of the biggest surfers in the traffic exchange industry. Each and every day, hundreds of surfers battle it out for ‘bragging rights’ and being the top surfer at I Love Hits. If you have been following the in-surf chat you’ll know how addicting this has become…
So our first 7 days went by and the new ‘week’ has started at Bracket Surfing, and the surfers that have been taking part in this have been very supportive of the new feature however I do not think the entire industry knows about it yet and the only person to point a finger at is myself…
So I’m trying to get this out there more, and plan on making some new changes to get the word out these next few weeks. What I would LOVE is that if you have any suggestions, comments or problems that concern Bracket Surfing, please let me know. This is a new area for I Love Hits and with all new features there will be learning curves and growth issues so please do not hesitate to drop me a line and let me know what you think.
A few tips on how to get the most from Bracket Surfing…
First, be sure to fill out your ‘Profile Page’ in your I Love Hits members area. This is linked directly to your username on both the Bracket page and the in-surf chat system. This is a great way to brand your name and network with other members.
Second, speaking of networking the in-surf chat has been a huge success and anytime of the day you can find lively discussion and helpful members chit chatting amongst themselves while surfing. Remember, this is a HUGE networking opportunity, do not ruin it by posting links up. Use it to get to know your future business partners…
And finally, check the Bracket Page daily to see who the movers and shakers are each day in the Brackets and the different divisions. Some of the leaders on these boards may be people you will want to work with in the future. Click on their Profile Page and drop them a note or two…
Oh yeah and above anything else, have a lot of fun with it. Bracket Surfing is new but after the first 7 days I can tell this is something that will be a huge part of I Love Hits for years to comes. Enjoy =)
We were doing an episode of TE Live a few weeks ago and we started to discuss new features that people would like to see added to I Love Hits. There was a lot of great suggestions but one idea seemed to really stick and get everyone ‘talking’ about the possibilities…
Today is the day that those ideas came to be…With the introduction of the ILH Bracket Surfing. And just what is Bracket Surfing? Think of it like a huge weekly (and daily) competition where instead of surfing in teams like we are used to doing, you compete and surf against other individual surfers in I Love Hits.
We all surf, and go up against each other and after 7 days we tally up the results and the winner of each ‘division’ gets a chunk of the prize pot…And it’s not the same old, same old pot of prizes either…The sky is the limit…

ILoveHit’s new bracket system works a lot like an NCAA bracket.
Each day you face a new opponent — the surfer who surfs the most pages in that day wins.
The next day you will have a new opponent, and by the end of the week, only one surfer will have won every game. This 1st place user is the winner, and gets 66% of the pot, while 2nd and 3rd place get 25% and 9% respectively. You can tell who is undefeated by the yellow border around their matchup.
The pot is based on how many pages ILoveHits users as a whole surf that week, the more surfing done, the higher the pot gets. Additionally, the total pot is split among the divisions with the higher divisions (1, 2, 3) getting the most credits in the pot
The division you are put in is based on the number of pages you surfed in the previous week. There’s a whole bunch of seeding involved too, but no need for you to worry about all that.

This is only day one and we are constantly making tweaks to make sure this is something you have never experienced before but at the same time, are going to fall in love with. Wow, it’s been quite an interesting hour this morning. I got up bright and early and decided to surf some traffic exchanges for a few hours and to be honest, what I saw while surfing was…
Very scary!
I was in Net Marketing Forum the other day and one of the more active members of the forum made a comment and it really stuck with me…
He mentioned that you show people how to really make money online, practice list building and provide real content…Most people shy away from it.
But give them a big red shiny easy button (promises of over night wealth, etc) and they are on it like pigs to mud.
It’s nothing new. Since these things started (traffic exchanges) there has been a revolving door of ‘promises’ and folks, the fact is, 99% of those ‘promises’ aren’t around anymore. Do you know what is though?
The program that tell you how to list build. The list builders themselves. The marketers with lists. The marketers with personal brands. The people that didn’t believe the ‘promise’ of that big red easy button but chose to work their tail off instead.
Don’t fall for it folks. Don’t fall for the claims of wealth, the ‘it’s so easy anyone can do it’ businesses. The ‘X Amount’ of money guaranteed to you every week. The ‘we will build your downline for you’ programs…They WILL be gone in a few months. They always are.

No secret, I ‘live’ by two simple rules when I advertise in the traffic exchanges. I brand my name (business) and I build my list. It’s all part of my game plan to grow my business. You see, I feel the more your site gets seen, the more people trust and get to ‘know’ you. The more they do that, the better chance you have to get them into your circle of influence (your list). Then the real magic happens….The relationship has started!
This is all about relationships and how we grow them. My favorite author Jeffrey Gitomer has always maintained that;
‘All things being equal, people buy from people they like. And all things not being equal, people STILL buy from people they like…’
What does this mean in the internet marketing world and the traffic exchanges? You want to get people to first KNOW you and then second LIKE you.
This is NOT easy and it takes time. I practice traffic exchange brand awareness so that people constantly see my face and my businesses each and every day. I provide value in my seminars, my training, my blogs to get people to see ‘what I stand for’. This again is all part of the plan…To grow my business.
So what are we doing promoting generic affiliate pages? Get rich quick schemes? Money ‘games’? How does this help us in the long run?
I’ve got to say, after a decade of surfing the traffic exchanges I continue to be absolutely blown away at the lack of quality pages I see in rotation. Yes, yes I know, it’s easy to just throw up an affiliate page and surf for credits but this does not help your business growth.
Have a plan in place. If you want to follow the ‘Brand and Build’ model, by all means let me know and I’ll point you in the right direction but regardless of which path you choose, make sure every single ‘click’ you do helps your goals.
Slow and steady has won the race in my opinion, staying in front of people for years has helped me…It’s not the big red easy button, but it works!
It’s a theory of mine that hasn’t done me wrong yet, and that is to be seen in the traffic exchanges are much in 6 months than you are today. I call it ‘Traffic Exchange Brand Awareness’ or T.E.B.A. for short…
Ask anyone who has made any money or found success in the traffic exchanges and they’ll tell you, you need to be seen as much as possible, for as long as possible, whenever possible. Simple enough yet 99.9% of the traffic exchange surfers still do not practice this.
No, you do not need $100 a week budget to advertise your site. You need elbow grease, some must have tools and the end goal in mind.
However, it’s not as ‘easy’ as it sounds…
I cannot tell you how many times I have heard and seen traffic exchange surfers and owners come online, go all out and put their everything into their business and then simply give up a few months later.
Why did they give up? Could be any reason, but I think the biggest one is that they do not see the results or get excited enough about the potential their efforts could generate.
But here’s the kicker…They always come back!
Yes, whether it’s a month, 6 months or a year later, these people seem to always return and give it another go. They are filled with desire and the will to succeed but one has to ask if they would have been further ahead if they stuck with it…
Case in point, don’t give up if you do not see results right away. Learn what you may be doing wrong. Ask questions. Get answers. Make sure you KNOW where you are advertising and what you are advertising.
You will see results, you WILL get excited about this business…Don’t forget that and don’t give up =)
I got home today from a short weekend getaway to find I Love Hits had some nice cosmetic changes added to it as well as some very cool new features;
First, when you surf you will want to pay close attention to the new ‘Twitter integration’ page that shows up every few page views. What is it? Simple, earn 5 credits by simply retweeting that you are surfing I Love Hits. Cool huh? And very easy…
Second, we have some new layouts on the surf bar. You will see ‘pop up’ boxes that slide into view when clicked on it…Try it out =)
If you are surfing, click assign credits to assign credits WHILE surfing. Also the new rate site and tell a friend options have been spiced up too.
And you will finally notice some cosmetic changes within the members area and when you log in. Just some very cool additions by my new favorite programmer in the traffic exchange industry…
